Military Medical Careers Offer Flexibility and Rewards

October 19, 2012 By admin

Anyone interested in a medical career should consider the benefits of an Army physician. Military medical careers often give professionals flexibility and rewards that they rarely find in civilian organizations.

Free Tuition and Training for Military Medical Careers

The Army offers free training for those pursuing military medical careers. This training often include college and medical school tuition reimbursement. To take advantage of this benefit, though, you will likely have to dedicate yourself to several years of Army service. Most Army physicians serve for at least four years. Depending on the level of training and tuition reimbursement that you receive, though, you could spend a longer or short amount of time serving the Army.

The Army will also pay for the educations of those pursuing other military medical careers. Nurses, dentists, and other professionals should consider the financial advantages of serving in the military.

Military Medical Careers Offer Great Benefits

Becoming an Army physician means that you get all of the benefits that other military personnel enjoy. You might not get paid as much as a physician working in the civilian sector, but you get a living stipend that significantly reduces your living expenses. In most cases, Army physicians find that they can live comfortable on their military allowance.

That means Army physicians don’t have to pay out of pocket for clothing, housing, or food. Think of how much money you could save.

Military Medical Careers Offer Excitement and Travel

When you become an Army physician, you get to select your living preferences. The military, however, is not obligated to uphold those preferences. You could end up working anywhere from Hawaii to the Middle East. Essentially, you have to go where the Army needs your services most.

Some people don’t like that. They would rather have control over where they live. Others, however, become Army physicians because they enjoy the excitement of exploring the world. To some, it’s a boon. To others, it’s a burden. If you like to travel and experience new cultures, then you might think that this is one of the best parts of working for the Army.

Other Military Medical Careers

Working as an Army physician could mean that you spend your time working with patients who have minor cuts. Then again, it could mean treating patients with severe injuries, not to mention diseases.

Some medical professionals aren’t interested in close contact with soldiers. There are many other military medical careers that focus on research. These jobs could allow you to research surgical applications, new technologies, and drugs.

Some professionals can focus on treating veterans rather than active soldiers. This typically means that they get to avoid active theaters. It also means that they can focus on a different set of medical issues that usually plague older veterans instead of young soldiers.

Working as an Army physician offers many rewards. For some, it’s a great way to earn a good living while getting to see the world and help soldiers. For those who want different advantages, there are other military medical careers to consider.
