So you think you might like to join the Military. Well, it is an excellent decision for many young people, but its best to get all the facts first.
If you have some common sense and are willing to work hard you can be successful in military enlistment. There are a lot of different opportunities to be had that are available in Today?s Armed Forces. But you should get the facts, and there are some hints to making the decision.
Get It In Writing– There are some wonderful opportunities that are available, and sometimes the different opportunities are available are valuable and unique. If you are made an offer or given a guaranteed job, or a guaranteed promise for a bonus, or enlistment bonus, its important that you get it in writing.
Interview Your Recruiter– Come prepared with a list of questions to ask your recruiter. It will gain you respect and perhaps help get you a better deal. If this is the 2nd or more visits that you have made to a recruiter, you should have a good idea of different things that you want to know.
Beware silly promises– Recruiters are professionals and most tell you the straight scoop. But some are out there that don?t tell you the real deal. Some of the silly promises that some people fall for include:
- No one will yell at you at basic training.
- You will be able to do what you wish during boot camp.
- You wont have to run at Boot camp.
- You will have your own private room during boot camp.
The recruiters of the different services, enlistment is a numbers game, pure and simple. It is a job where recruiters are under a lot of pressure to meet a quota. So beware of that.
