Every life will eventually come to an end. Whether the end of that life might happen from natural causes or as a result of battle or an accident, the deceased deserves respect. Those who pass while in the service of their country deserve an extra measure of respect. It is the reason why the United States Army takes the issue of handling the deceased and their loved ones with the utmost respect at all times. This is the kind of work you will be doing when you are a US Army mortuary affairs specialist.
What You Will Do
When you work as a US Army mortuary affairs specialist you will be involved with making sure that the deceased is removed correctly. The location and circumstances of the death must be recorded properly for the Army and for the family of the deceased. You will be in charge of handling the personal effects of the deceased and forwarding all items along to the family so that they can choose what to do with them.
