National Guard Careers: Medical Jobs

Are you interested in medicine? If so, joining the National Guard is a great idea on many levels. There are many medical jobs in the National Guard that are perfect for people in your shoes. From saving lives in combat to taking care of emergencies behind the scenes, medical professionals play a huge part in keeping this branch of the military in top working order.

After completing 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training it is time to move onto Advanced Individual Training. This can last anywhere from 6 to 54 weeks based on your specialty. Although you have to train for more than a year for some jobs, it is well worth it in the end.

If you are interested in the medical field you need to learn more about the jobs that are available. Some of the most common include: dental specialist, optical laboratory specialist, medical logistics specialist, pharmacy specialist, radiology specialist, and health care specialist among others.

Healthcare is a wide open field that attracts many people. After you work a medical job in the National Guard you will be able to find a civilian position when the time comes. For instance, your training will prepare you for a job in a number of settings including nursing homes, clinics, and hospitals.
