August 14, 2014, HUENEME, Calif. (NNS) – The Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (NAVFAC EXWC) awarded Jet Dock Systems, Inc. a contract for modular floating boat docks July 31.
The amount awarded to Jet Dock Systems, Inc. is $143, 644.81 for one 50 ft. modular, floating, drive-on docking systems for the Maritime Prepositioning Force Utility Boat (MPFUB), with an option for a second unit (total contract award: $287,289.62). The contract includes shipping, initial installation and training services for managing and installing the docking system.
“This docking system will be utilized by our nation’s warfighters and their Maritime Prepositioning Force Utility Boats,” said NAVFAC EXWC Commanding Officer Capt. Mark. K. Edelson. “It will allow simple maintenance in harsh marine environments and save money by reducing exposure to corrosive seawater, thereby extending the service life of current craft.”
The 50 ft. Performance Series Dock will be used by Assault Craft Unit One (ACU-1) for dry-docking to perform essential maintenance and has the ability to lift a 50,000 lb. mono-hull, jet drive craft entirely out of the water.
In addition, this contract will enable NAVFAC EXWC to support the mission of the 40 ft. high-speed landing craft operated by Navy Maritime Prepositioning Forces (MPF) squadrons. These boats are designed to expeditiously move personnel and equipment to the beach and to conduct vital force protection and other Marine Amphibious assault missions.
The docking systems will be delivered and installed at NAB Coronado, San Diego, Calif. for ACU-1.
