It takes a special individual to serve in the Navy in certain specialist jobs. Some of these jobs take a special level of commitment, or a special level of training. And because of this, some of these jobs are eligible for either an initial enlistment bonus, or a re enlistment bonus.
This is the way that the Navy has to show that this is a valued job, and that the service of certain jobs is of high value, and appreciated. This is not a bonus that is available for every job in the Navy, but only for certain jobs and skills that the Navy deems are in high demand. Jobs such as the Special Operations and Special Warfare specialties, as well as Combatant Craft Crewmembers, Navy Special Divers, Explosive Ordnance Crewmembers, Explosive Disposal Technicians, and Parachute Specialists are some of the types of jobs that are eligible for bonuses.
Do You Qualify?
There are also other types of special pay that some enlisted personnel are qualified for. Pay for things such as demolition pay, Sea Pay, Special Duty pay, parachute pay, diving pay, and foreign language pay can be part of a enlisted Navy Persons pay and allowances on a regular basis. While not technically a bonus, this is still an incentive pay that the Navy gives to certain qualified enlisted personnel in recognition of their job skills and the nature of their jobs. Some of the following qualify for special enlistment bonuses: Navy Seal– $40,000 dollars. A Navy Seal is a member of the special operations community and is called to deal with hazardous and dangerous missions as an everyday occurrence. Explosives Ordnance Disposal- $40,000. A Navy explosive Ordnance disposal technician deals with devices which can explode, or that are highly dangerous and able to cause great harm.
Navy Diver- $35,000 Dollar bonus- Navy Divers have to venture into hazardous and difficult missions, and perform demolition, construction, and other feats under water and their job is considered some of the most hazardous Active duty anywhere. Working as a Navy diver takes continuing training and requires that you perform missions, sometimes, which are classified, that put you into danger and hazardous situations. Working in the Special Operations arena and Explosive demolition areas are types of jobs that give special pay and also enlistment bonuses, but they are jobs where the bonuses and consideration is very definitely earned. The Navy gives a lot of training and effort to keep their personnel safe, but uses the bonus system to signify their appreciation for the risks and danger that certain personnel have to assume, over and above normal type active duty risk.
