There are many different advantages to being an enlisted member of the United States Navy. You get great benefits along with great pay. You also get the chance to get the career training which will allow you to have the kind of life you have always dreamed of. Because of all of the families which are brought into the Navy as well as families which grow in the Navy, it is not shocking that there is a program which allows fathers to take time off when their spouse gives birth.
The Nature of the Program
This program was actually devised for the entire military force to take advantage of. The FY Defense authorization of 2009 has been used first by the United States Navy, but it is something which all branches of the military can utilize. Because of the push to create a tighter bond between enlisted personnel and their families, it is not a surprise that the Navy is the first branch to use the program.

What the Program Does
The paternity leave is an additional 10 days paid leave in which the enlisted personnel member is allowed to spend time with family during a time of increased need. The period of time must be used all in one block and has to be utilized within the first 365 days after the birth of their child. The program does not specify any restrictions on having multiple children. Click on the link above to find out more about this and other great benefits for joining the US Navy.
