Things happen every day to the ships and equipment in the United States Coast Guard. Whether the damages are a result of an accident, wear and tear or from an enemy attack, they need to get fixed as quickly as possible. The repairs are not as simple as taking the ship to the local mechanic. Instead they must be worked on by a specialist who is trained to understand what they are doing. This is the Damage Controlman.

This is because there is no section of the Guard which is not in need of a good controlman to assist in making sure the vessels are in good operational condition at all times. You will help to make sure that everything from the plumbing to the emergency systems are working properly.
