Coalition Aids Women In The Region
Women in the region of Arab Jabour have worked diligently supporting and helping their families for hundreds of years, but it is just recently that they have begun to work outside the home. With support and training paid for and provided by the Coalition, ladies of Arab Jabour have began to be successful in different jobs working outside of their homes. The women have received training in a number of different positions, especially in the area of seamstress or tailor work.
The typical role of women in Iraqi at large and in Arab Jabour in particular has been limited both by cultural expectations and by tradition, but slowly this is changing. Many of the women involved in the training are pleased to be able to earn money and support their families outside the home. Through their efforts they are able to have their families well fed and supported. And the future for these different families is much brighter than in the past. In addition to working outside the home, women are beginning to find their voice in affairs of the community, and to share their feelings on issues.
