Backpacks And School Supplies Given By Coalition Soldiers
The students in the different school districts in the Sadr City Region are able to go to school confidently now, with the recent donation of a number of types of school supplies, and backpacks to them.
The members of the 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry, 1st Armored division were invited to distribute supplies by the Government of Iraq, and they responded enthusiastically to the request. It is an activity that the soldiers do not have to be asked twice, it is a highly rewarding and popular activity for the US and coalition soldiers.
The smiles that the children don on their faces when they are able to get the school supplies is reward in itself, but also to know that you are being part of an effort that makes a real difference has given the coalition troops something else to do now that much of their security efforts have been taken over by the members of the Iraq Military.
There are 15 different schools in the region, and members and children from each school has been able to gain supplies, pens, pencils, paper and other types of school supplies.
Many of the students are orphans, who have suffered the loss of their parents by insurgent activity in the past in the region. It is rewarding to know that these children have had their needs met by the determined activity by US and coalition soldiers.
