Al Habbaniyah Training Center Completed By Coalition
Part of the new security responsibilities in the Al Anbar province has been given support by the opening of a new police training center.
The Al Anbar provincial Police Training Center opened to fanfare from the Iraqi Government, as well as being recognized by both the coalition and the Iraqi Security Forces.
Minister of the Interior for Iraq, Jawad Al Bolani spoke about the importance of the new police training center, and about how it will support the efforts of the Iraqi Government in their new security responsibilities.
The government of Iraq assumed security control of Al Anbar from the Coalition recently, and so far it has been smooth running.
The coalition remains with troops in the area, but the responsibility for the security is now with the Iraqi Government. The coalition participates in different security patrols, but upon invitation only, they are not in control, and respond when requested or invited.
The new police training center will train about 750 recruits in 12 different police courses every 10 weeks, and the courses have been heavily influenced by the Coalition. Courses such as democratic policing, crime basics and confronting terrorists are things that the coalition has taught, and now the Iraqi Security forces and the National police use in their training.
