Online Financial Banking

December 27, 2007 By admin

Many people are slow to use the Internet or Online services for their banking needs. With the advent of encryption, most financial banking can be done online easier and as secure or more secure than their in person brethren. Also, the old belief that because it is on the computer it is somehow more subject to loss or error is wrong. ALL of our transactions are on computer now, even if you never touch a computer yourself. All financial transactions worldwide are computerized, and data is shared in an instant.

So what does it take to get started? Well normally, a Windows compatible computer, and some sort of Internet access. Most banking accepts Internet explorer, and if you have the latest updates for your computer you should be fine. Many times online programs offer better security than you can find in person. The incidence of identity fraud via paper method averages more than four thousand dollars per victim, the incidents of computer identity fraud averages around six hundred dollars. There are many reasons for this, but mostly if you bank online, you are more often to check you account often and know your own balance.

You will need to have your personal information handy. Normally this consists of your social security number, your address, your name, your birthday, your gender and other information. You will want to select a username, and a password. The best passwords are the ones that have both letters and numbers, are at least eight characters long, and that are not easily guessed.
Advantages of banking online are many, you can see your bills faster, and get online statements. There is not the opportunity for someone to rifle through your trash or getting a paper trail by raiding your mailbox to steal your identity.

What are the best reasons to bank online? Saving money and Time. Mailing twenty checks a month even, you will pay nearly ten dollars in postage alone. Many banks have online bill pay features, and many banks do not charge a fee. Deposit from Home. Some banks have a new service, utilizing your scanner, where you can deposit checks from the comfort of your own home. Talk about convenience, how much better can it get? Convenience and Speed. When you bank online you can access your funds, track funds, and know quickly the same information that the bank sees when it accesses your account. Transferring Money. Most online accounts allow you to transfer money from account to account, often if within the same bank being credited immediately.
