There are many different benefits that you will be able to enjoy when you are a member of the United States Air Force. Those who work in optometry for the US Air Force are charged with protecting the eyesight of the airmen.
What You Will Do
You will assist patients with the creation and the fitting of military issue spectacles as well as fitting and instruction for airmen wearing contact lenses. You will also assist on working with flight crews for night vision goggles and other vision related items. You will help with testing eyesight and taking care of patient records and managing their comfort in terms of their visual needs. You will also assist with handling approved ophthalmic drugs.

Get the Training
In order to work in this position you will not only go through basic training like the rest of the airmen. You will also learn through the basic optometry course as well as the Air Force surgical course. This will help to train you for what you will learn while you are on the job. You will also have the option to be able to get further training so that you will be able to advance in your career.
