Iraq Security Forces Take Over Forward Base
The forward Patrol Base Vanderhorn has been the latest of different areas that have been handed back to the Iraqi Government responsibility. The Iraqi Army has taken over PB Vanderhorn from the Coalition, and it will be responsible for all security and operations from this point on.
The Iraqi Security Forces took control of PB Vanderhorn in a ceremony on October 16th, and it will be leading the efforts to maintain security in the region.
Patrol Base Vanderhorn was established in May of 2008 by the 187th Infantry regiment as a method to establish better relations with the Manari and Al Sura region. It has been hugely successful in making the overall relations between the joint forces and the Iraqi Community better.
The region and overall area is now safer than ever before, and it is due to the success of the coalition surge, as well as the efforts of the Sons of Iraq, and the Iraq Army. The coalition is continuing to work with the Iraqi Army and the citizens of the region to make sure that the situation continues to be safe.
