Ramadi Endowment Center Yields Successful Conference
The area in and around Ramadi has seen a great deal of change, and transitioning from a place of insurgency to a recovering and calm city has been a large change. The Women of Ramadi are trying in their own small way to effect change, also.
The Women of Ramadi held a ?Women of Tomorrow? conference at the Ramadi Sunni Endowment and conference center on August 2nd to August 4th.
The conference focused on different common issues in Iraq society, and the fate of women in Iraqi Society, as well as how women are typically treated in society at large.
The members of the Conference were officially welcomed as the Females For Ramadi Council.
While the typical reception of women in Middle Eastern societies is often as 2nd class citizens, there is an active effort by the Iraqi Government to be inclusive, and to give women a voice where possible.
The Women?s Council will serve to give an advisory role to the mayor, and city officials, and it is a new idea that is being viewed with support and concern.

As women work to learn to participate in Iraqi society the members of Iraqi leadership will also have to learn how to deal with women effectively.
