Iraqi Army Trained By Coalition Successful
The Rusafa neighborhood has slowly grown and become very safe compared to where it was as short as 18 months ago. The members of the 4th brigade, 1st Iraqi Army have been very important in making sure that security and safety of the citizens are protected.
Soldiers have worked to provide training for the ISF forces, and this has made all the difference in the world. Recently, members from the Iraqi Security Forces responded to a Rusafa resident tip and found a Muhalla weapons cache that was not previously known.
Over 500 pounds of explosives were discovered, and the tip was a good example of the kind of cooperation that the Iraqi Security forces have developed with the local citizens.
They met with the individual and he led the ISF forces to the specific weapons caches, where the insurgents has left it. They had carefully stashed away the explosives thinking they would not be found, but they did not count on the cooperation of the local citizens.
Members of the community have been in the past frightened and scared, but with the insurgency on the run the citizens are much more bold and cooperative.
