10th Mountain Division Soldiers Assist Reconstruction Efforts
The 10th Mountain Division Soldiers have fought hard in Iraq and worked to hand off security to the Iraqi Security Forces. These brave Marine Corps Soldiers are part of the surge and have been invaluable to the overall success in making Iraq a safe nation once again.
A part of the 10th Mountain Division, called “Team Metallica” is now charged with helping local governors and leaders to provide for basic needs and the welfare of the Iraqi people in the Rusafa district of east Baghdad.
These soldiers are part of the 10th Mountain Division, 4th BCT, 89th Cavalry regiment, 3rd Squadron, and they are specifically selected for their experience and ability to help with reconstruction effort. The soldiers are made up of a civil affairs team, a tactical operations and a number of soldiers in a security element detail. These soldiers and other individuals make up what is known as “Team Metallica.”
Team Metallica Mentors, coaches and guides civic and Iraqi local leaders in how to best rebuild their community, and the best ways to obtain needed services for the Iraqi People. Some of the projects that Team Metallica has helped out with have been issuing micro grants, helping to pave streets, and to support the efforts of community groups such as the Sons Of Iraq.

One of the future possible projects of Team Metallica is to help guide the leaders to obtain a micro power generating plant for the Rusafa region and to help aid some of the poorest areas.
