Local Citizens Group Takes EOD Troop To Cache
The actions of the Concerned Local Citizens in Sabbah Nissan continue to aid the War on Terror effort. The CNC group based at the village near Baghdad took Coalition soldiers to a large explosive and weapons caches nearby.
Troops from Battery A, First Battalion, 10th Field Artillery responded and found a large cache of explosives and weapons. They called out explosives ordnance soldiers from the 789th EOD Company to destroy the cache and weapons.
Ever since last November, the actions of the local CNC groups have again and again turned up large amounts of weapons. Each time these weapons have been turned over to U.S. and Coalition forces for destruction.
We are thrilled to see the Iraqi Citizens helping us, and stepping up,? said 1st Sergeant Michael Parker. Parker is the Battery A First Sergeant. The effective help and assistance from the CLC groups in locating these types of weapons have allowed the Coalition troops more time and ability to help provide water, food and supplies.
“Our local CLC groups have helped us make Base Hammer secure and safe,? said Captain Chas Cannon. Cannon is the Commander of Battery A. We rely on their expert knowledge of these different neighborhoods, and each seizure of weapons is one where they didn’t fall into enemy hands,? said Gannon.
The 1st of the 10th FA is instrumental in the destruction and location of weapons in Iraq in the region. They have been in Iraq in support of the War on Terror and Operation Iraqi Freedom since last March, and they work very closely with the Iraqi Local Citizens groups.
