Baghdad, Iraq-One of the best and most patriotic groups among the citizens of Iraq has been its Sons of Iraq forces. Recently, nearly 1000 of them joined to register as potential Iraqi Police Officers.
In December 948 former Sons of Iraq members came forward and said that they wanted to become Iraqi Police Officers and began training at the Iraqi Police Training Center at Al Furat. They have been working to complete the course, and become full fledged Iraqi Police officers.
On January 14th, 894 members of the initial 948 successfully graduated and became members of the Iraqi Police Officers Association. They will now take their place as guardians of their nation, enforcing laws and keeping the peace.
They are the second Iraqi Police class that has been formed entirely from the ranks of former Sons of Iraq, and it shows the dedication of some of the citizens that were formerly SOI members.
The two graduations are symbols of the New Iraq, and tangible evidence that the Government of Iraq is working to offer jobs and training to the members of the Sons of Iraq to help reward them for their service and commitment when it was most needed.
