Camp Zama, Japan-? One of the top issues that the US Army is preparing to address is the policy of ?Stop Loss? and it being relied upon to keep troop levels in the war zones at a high enough staffing level.
The current ?Stop Loss? policy is likely to endure for the current schedule of two more years, but it is one of the hot topic issues that the Army leadership is examining, to try and come up with a more equitable means to staff necessary Army positions.
General George Casey, the US Army Chief of Staff spoke out about? ?Stop Loss? and that it is an issue that the Army wants to eliminate and discontinue as soon as its is feasible. By October 2010 the Army should be able to staff its different positions without having to rely on ?Stop Loss? according to General Casey.
Casey made his remarks as he continued on a base to base tour of Japan, and South Korea, and other sites in Asia. He was able to comment on Stop Loss and other issues in a brief meeting with the media at Camp Zama.
?We need to work to wean ourselves off of Stop Loss as soon as we are able to,? said General Casey.
