Joint Security Forces Are Successful In Latest Efforts
The number of terrorists that have been captured or killed in the last six months has been small, because of the increased security for the region. However, the last two weeks has led to a number of smaller raids, resulting in a larger number of arrests than in the previous six months combined.
Iraqi and coalition solders have been working to perform joint exercises, and they have been very successful. In the last 14 days 21 different suspected terrorists have been arrested, and 4 insurgent suspects killed. The insurgents that lost their lives fired upon a joint patrol and were immediately overwhelmed by superior Iraqi and Coalition firepower.
In a series of coordinated raids on Baghdad?s west side there was a member of what is believed to be the senior leadership of Al Qaeda arrested. The high value suspect was immediately transported to the coalition headquarters to be interrogated.
A number of different raids on suspected Insurgent strongholds have also yielded arrests, and the coalition is pleased with the ongoing successes of their joint ISF and Coalition patrols, and the efforts to transfer responsibility for the region back to Iraqi control is moving ahead at high speed.
