Fort Dix, New Jersey-? The five suspected Islamic radicals that plotted to attack and kill US Servicemembers stationed at Fort Dix were found guilty last Monday of Conspiracy to Kill military Personnel.
The men accused and convicted of these charges were found guilty of these charges, but innocent of other charges of attempting to kill US Soldiers and Federal employees. Originally there were six men arrested and charged, but one of the men was allowed to plead guilty to a lesser weapons charge, and to give testimony against his fellow conspirators.
The men were found guilty in Federal Court in Camden, New Jersey, and four of the original six men were from the former republic of Yugoslavia. One other man was from Turkey, and the last man was from Jordon.
The men were arrested in May 2007 when they were attempting to purchase automatic weapons. They were part of an elaborate 16 month Federal FBI sting operation that ended when the six men were arrested. They were recorded in hidden court authorized wire taps about launching the planned attack against Soldier located at Fort Dix, New Jersey. They were reportedly recorded yelling ?Allahu Akbar? which is a cry meaning ?God is Greatest? and a phrase commonly associated with a Islamic Interfada, or holy war.
