There are few military jobs as exciting as becoming an Explosive Ordnance Disposal(EOD) technician. This military job analyzes and handle foreign, domestic, and home-made explosives. Their work saves lives by disposing of explosive material. EOD personnel are highly trained, skilled technicians who are experts in explosives, diving, and parachuting.
They routinely work with the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. State Department, helping to protect the President, Vice President and other officials. They support the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and other federal entities as well as state and local police bomb squads. They also support security at large international events, such as the Olympics or world summits.
Basic Requirements:
This military job is eligible to both males and females. Candidates may volunteer for EOD during basic training at the Recruit Training Center, at ?A? school, or at any time during their enlistment prior to their 31st birthday. There are several additional requirements, such as minimum ASVAB scores, vision requirements, lack of color blindness and secret security clearance just to name a few. There are rigorous medical and physical requirements. You must be on board present command for two years and receive a recommendation from your current commanding officer.
