Operation New Town Starts Joint Operations
Coalition forces and Iraqi Army Soldiers worked to conduct a joint air assault mission called Operation New Town in the Shakriyah village on June 10th.
Members of the 6th IA Division, 22nd Brigade, 3rd Battalion, 4th Company Iraqi soldiers worked to participate in the ground and air assault mission.
The coalition solders worked to treat citizens with respect and they were greeted with respect and friendship by members of the Iraqi Security Forces, and also by Iraqi Citizens. Because of past operations the soldiers from the Coalition have earned the respect and friendship of most of the local citizens, and this has led to a dawning of a new level of trust in Shakriyah.
As part of Operation New Town, the citizens of the Shakriyah village were counted and interviewed, and the information is being given to the Iraqi Government to help them learn what the needs of the local citizens are.
Citizens of the region were cooperative, and did not seem to mind sharing information about their lives with the soldiers. The survey and questions were asked by members of the Iraqi Security forces, but the ongoing security operations were successful with both Iraqi and Coalition soldiers.
