The Army Enlisted UH-60 Helicopter repair specialist works on different Army helicopters specializing in the UH-60. The Blackhawk Helicopter repair crew work to keep the different Army helicopters in the air and performing various Army missions. As a member of the Blackhawk repair team you will perform maintenance and supervise repairs on rotary UH-60 Helicopters. You will be part of a team that is assigned a specific group of aerial craft, and serving as members often of the helicopter flight crew.
You may work to perform different utility operations removing, installing mechanical systems, engines, gearboxes, rotors, transmissions and their various components. You will work to lubricate and service aircraft landing gear, maintenance systems, and performing special operations. Functioning as a Blackhawk UH-60 duty repair specialist you will work replacing electrical parts, lights, batteries, electrical parts, wiring, starts and other items. Job training for a UH –60 Black hawk helicopter repairer consists of basic training for nine weeks where you will learn about being in the Army. After Basic combat training you will advance to individual advanced training for 15 weeks. You will work to study both in the classroom and in the field learning about basic helicopter engine disassembly and repair. You will study electrical and fuel systems, hydraulic systems and how to repair steel, fiberglass and aluminum airframe coverings. If you have a background in shop mechanics or the industrial arts, are good with hand and power tools, and if you have an interest in working with aviation and aircraft then this may be the job and career in the Army for you. You will be responsible as you rise in rank and rate to help train and supervise Blackhawk Mechanics who are junior enlisted personnel, to help them learn proper procedures and repair methods.There are many civilian aviation careers that you can pursue if you are a trained UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter mechanic, such as small engine repair, or working in a larger civilian based aviation shop or airplane hanger at a small airport.

You will work in repair, and as you rise in rank you will gradually assume responsibility for different levels of supervising other soldiers more junior to yourself. You will be assigned as a senior enlisted NCO to be responsible for a shop or repair facility.
