Are you a veteran? Do you need help moving into civilian life? From finding a job to getting the right training, this is not always as simple as it sounds. If you find yourself in this position, you should get all the help you qualify for. To start, you need to learn more about the Veterans‘ Employment and Training Service (VETS) program.
What is VETS?
VETS is an independent agency that is part of the Department of Labor. The main responsibility of this agency is to help veterans transition from life in the military to life as a civilian. Along with this, they play a large part in protecting the employment rights of veterans, National Guard Members, and Reservists.
In addition to providing service to veterans, VETS also works with employers all over the country. The agency has formed partnerships with the federal government, state and local governments, professional associations, and community groups.
Every veteran should have the ability to join the workforce ? VETS has gone a long way in making this possible.
The agency is also well known for providing funds to support national programs including: the Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVER) Program and the Disabled Veterans’ Outreach Program (DVOP).
Other VETS Programs
In addition to the two national programs listed above, VETS is also involved with the following: Training Assistance, Training Assistance Program (TAP), and Veterans’ Affirmative Action.
Want to Get Started?
If you think that VETS could help you find a job or provide career training, you need to get in touch with the local representative in your area. The agency has a network of state directors that are in charge of supplying information to veterans and employers interested in available services.
As a veteran, finding a job in the civilian sector does not have to be difficult. If you need any assistance, you can turn to the Veterans’ Employment and Training Service. Other traditional options like job boards are always a popular option that can not be ignored.
