Major General Guy Swan III Visits New Restored Marketplace
One of the Coalition Commanders, Major General Guy Swan III recently visited one of the successful marketplaces in the West Rashid District of Baghdad on September 12th.
The Soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment were very proud to be able to demonstrate the 84th Street Market in Hayy Aamel, and their success in aiding the area and the Marketplace using their micro grant program.
The Aamel business plan is progressing very well, and the Micro Grant program that promotes the resurgence and rebuilding of the area has been promoted by Coalition Captain Drew Conner.
Micro grants are different financial grants that provide immediate assets to business owners, helping local residents fulfill their goals of rebuilding and restarting their businesses. It has been very successful in giving many local residents the chance to rebuild and renew their business.
Major General Swan was visiting different regions and soldiers on the battle front, and he was impressed with the successful micro grant program. The micro grant program in West Rashid is one that is being examined for possible expansion throughout Iraq, as it has helped in ways that are immediate, and meaningful.

The local citizens in West Rashid give a lot of credit to the success that they are enjoying to the aid that they have gotten from the coalition. Many of the business owners stepped forward to speak to General Swan as he toured the area.
