What is the right branch of the military for you? If you are considering the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and National Guard, then you need to do some serious research. But first, you may want to consider the following.
1. If you’ve ever thought of trying to become a Navy Seal, then you’ll need to join the Navy or the Marines. Navy Seals are pulled exclusively from these two branches of the United States military. You can apply for Seal training when you join now, so you can go in with that intention.

2. Do you like planes and air travel? Does the idea of being in a jet or helicopter most of the time make you happy? You’ll definitely want to look into the Air Force. You’ll fly in any branch of the military, but the Air Force has more of an airborne focus than other branches.
3. Are you a water baby? Do you feel at home on the water, and love ships and sea travel? Join the Navy. You could be on an aircraft carrier, a destroyer or a nuclear submarine. You’ll learn marine travel and seamanship best as a Navy recruit than any other branch of the military.
4. Would you like to be able to serve your country and get military benefits without doing so full time? Join the National Guard, where you can train part time with all the benefits and opportunities to serve.
Ultimately, you’re responsible! Do your homework.
Talk to your Army recruiter. Then visit with your Navy recruiter. Call your National Guard recruiter. Search for online articles on each of the military branches. Don’t buy into the ‘see the world’ advertising on TV as life in the military is far away from the Ritz. Don’t get caught up in the highlights on being a Navy Seal. Very few make it for a reason. Pick a military career to converts to a good civilian career. Bottomline, don’t forget you’re commiting to four or more years of your life. Be wise and go make your momma proud!

I am a freshman in college in Blytheville, AR. I have a three month old little girl that I am trying to support by myself at the moment. I am interested in doing something new with my life. I want to be able to provide for my daughter and myself. I have no prior military experience but most of my family has been in one branch or another of the military. I would like to know which branch would be good for me to enlist in. If you wouldn’t mind I would like to hear back from you with some guidance on which path to take.
Thank you,
Anjelyca
I am a senior in high school in San Francisco, California. I am interested in intelligence and hand to hand combat. I’m also pretty handy with a gun. I’d like professional training, and serve my country in the process, but do not know which branch will help me. I am not even sure if I want join the military yet, but I would like to know more about it. I’d appreciate the help.

Anjelyca in my personal opinion i would go airforce because they provided most for families with children and being a airforce, navy, and army bratt, i can remember airforce being the most enjoyable as a child and my mother having lots of support.
Hello,
I am a high school graduate and right now I’m in Germany. Both my parents are in the Air Force and I feel pretty good about joining the military but honestly I think I’m leaning more towards the Navy and becoming a photographer. I like the idea of being in helicopters as much as I do being on a boat. Everyone tells me the Air Force has more benefits but no one tells me what those are. I want to be able to travel more oversees and I love being by the water though the thought of being on a boat for an extended period of time makes me feel a little sick. (Unless it’s a cruise ship, naturally :] ) Though I’ve been through plenty of AF activities and I’ve moved around my whole life but this is my parents first time being oversees since they joined. I’m really confused about which branch to join because my two best friends just joined. One in the Navy, and one in the AF. Though the Navy guy isn’t a fan of the navy he loves that he gets to go to so many places. The AF guy says he really likes the AF so far but right now he’s in Texas still. I just can’t find a recruiter to talk to.
I am a Junior in High School. I scored well on my ASVAB and im interested in the special forces but i cant figure out a good branch to choose. Also a career to pursue. Any advice from anyone?

Hello I’m a Freshman in High School in NH. The Branch i wish to go into is the Coast Guard and i see you didn’t mention them. Thank you for your time, Sir.
I’m a junior in HS , I’m a female. I want to go to Armed Forces or Navy. But I don’t want to go into combat. After HS, I want to go to college and be in one of the branches. But I just don’t want it to be mandatory to go into combat. If you could please give me advice, it would be really helpful.
I’m currently a sophomore in high school in Texas, I’m a 16 year old girl. My friend is an officer for ROTC and he recruited me for the armed drill team for next year (junior year). It’s always been a dream of mine to join the marines, but now I’m not sure if I want to be in the marines or army. A lot of men in my family have been marines, I guess that’s being a marine appeals to me more. I too, like many others, have done my research on every branch of the military and am still indecisive. My friend (the officer) said I am physically fit and stable/well suited for the marines. He would like to see me carry on with this. I would appreciate any input you guys could give me! I’m either going to enlist after I graduate in 2016, or be a part of the Texas Maritime Academy at A&M. Any help with this decision would be greatly appreciated, thank y’all! ~God bless~
I am currently 17, but I will be 18 this coming September. I want to serve in combat, fight in the field, and so I plan to join the Army. I know women in combat has been rare and uncommon for a very long time, but I’ve heard that now more and more women have been able to serve in combat. I have talked with other people who have served, and one of them was a sergeant. But they were all in the Marines and told me I should choose that branch instead. I have been considering it, but this is my question. As a woman, and my wanting to serve in combat, should I stick with the Army, or should I choose the Marines instead? I know that the only person that knows what I want is myself, but I want to make sure I make the right choice and be 100% committed to it. If I even am able to serve in the field. Thank you for your time.
I am a sophomore at Rahway High School in New Jersey. I am in the Marine Corps JROTC program at my school and I definitely want to join the service. My dilemma is that I don’t know which one, sir. This is my first year in the JROTC program too, sir. I am currently a Private First Class, sir. If you could help that would be great. Thank you.
My son had his heart set on enlisting into a military branch (Marines)once he graduated from high school in 2013. I went as far as joining ROTC his senior year and worked out with the recruiter and the recruits. Never did the recruiter tell my son that if he took ANY medication for his A.D.D. he had in 3rd and 4th grades, would he be sifted from the military. Also, he had to score such a high score on the ASVAB test that it was virtually a genius that the Marines wanted instead of a normal, young man. Needless to say my son’s whole life’s ambition has been torn apart.
I have a couple of questions to ask: 1. Is there any military branch the boy can try to get into? 2. Why do the recruiters mislead these young people into thinking that they can enlist? When the criteria is so screwed up having to make the impossible test score and then if you took medication to focus on studying in school, then the military does NOT accept them!!!!
sir I’ve been really interested in the Marine Corps because I feel like it fits me but I recently had a National Guard Recruiter and he has told me that the Marine Corps only pays 75% for college tuition, I’m really lost on what I want to do because I’m about to become 17 so id like to enlist at 17 so I would like help to make up my mind on what branch to enlist in as soon as possible
Sir,
I have been interested in working with the military for a very long time, however, I am unsure in which branch would be right for me (I am leaning towards Navy greatly). I am in my first year at college studying criminal justice and would like to work in the field however I am concerned that my physical build would let me down. Is there any advice you could give me?
sincerely, Holly
Hi, well at the moment I am a senior at Thoreau High School, Thoreau, New Mexico. I am having a hard decision deciding between the marines and the army. Like I want to become a combat engineer, so the marines can guarentee that i get into the specific field. Where as the army has guarenteed that I will get that job. What do you think I should do?
Hi,I’m a 17 year old female and I want to join the rotc program for the Air Force.I have some questions that I would be more then greatful to get answers for. Im curently a running start student.I’m a senior in high school and I’m starting my sophomore year in college. My plans were to graduate highschool with my associates then go to a university and join the rotc program for the Air Force.
