There has been some concern about whether there is a place in the United States Navy for women. Rumors fly around that there are special considerations made for women which causes a separation between the enlisted men and women. In fact, the women in the US Navy are allowed to apply for every job, save for the SEALs, that the men are allowed and they are expected to meet all of the same requirements for entry.
Housing
The only way in which women have a division from men is where they are housed when they sleep at night. The women have a separate dorm from the men mainly for privacy than for anything else. The housing is exactly the same as what the men are given to sleep in. There is no treatment which is given that is preferential or derogatory.

Train Hard
Once a woman recruit becomes an enlisted member of the United States Navy, she will be expected to pull her weight the same as all of the men. This is why there is no separation in the grueling exercise and strength training exercises which are expected of the women as they go through training. Women are expected to go through long hours of marching, running, rifle exercises and more. They will learn hand-to-hand combat as well as how to handle high stress and leadership situations.
