Coalition Works To Provide Infrastructure Assistance
There has been a number of different projects completed by the coalition in the Yarmouk area of Iraq, but none has been as well received as the Public Substation. Its opening has provided electrical power for several hundred citizens, as well as helping with the local rebuilding of the economy. Soldiers from the MNF multinational division have worked to re open the publics works electricity substation to the joy of citizens in the northeast Yarmouk neighborhood of Baghdad.
Members of the 101st Airborne Division, 2nd Brigade Combat Team have worked closely with local officials and leaders in re opening the substation that was previously heavily damaged from different battles in the area in the last 18 months. As the security has settled down the responsibility for the Security has slowly transitioned to the local Iraqi Security forces, both the Iraqi National Army and National police have done an excellent job. The Yarmouk substation will work to serve the Mansour District and provide workers not only with added electricity, but also added storage for public works equipment. This equipment is used for such things as Sewer maintenance and trash collection.
Soldiers from the 42nd Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Battalion, and 1st Brigade Combat team attached to the 4th Infantry have worked successfully in the rebuilding of the substation. Most of the repair work has been completed, and it is greatly appreciated by the citizens of the area.
